Bike, Hike, and Paddle

From January of 1996 to October of 2008, this site was called "Chuck's Backpacking Bonanza" and was hosted on AOL until they ceased such hosting. Over the years, I expanded the site to include much more than only backpacking, so the name is now Bike, Hike, and Paddle. Enjoy my efforts!

Steamboat Springs, Colorado's Yampa River Trail

The Yampa River Core Trail follows the Yampa River from Walton Pond north to Shield Road near where it crosses the river. The trail parallels US 40 through a corridor of cottonwoods. Along the way you'll find picnic spots, benches and scenic overlooks. The trail provides access to Steamboat Springs and city parks. In addition, there is plenty to see and do in the vicinity.

This 7.5-mile paved multi-use trail runs through the heart of Steamboat Springs and along the Yampa River.

Groves of cottonwood trees, excellent fishing, scenic overlook benches, and lovely picnic spots make this trail a great place for a leisurely stroll or a commuter route through town and provides access to parks and playgrounds and provides scenic overlooks and picnic spots.

These mileage markers let you know where you are on the trail...

This sculpture adorns the trail. A husband and wife who were biking had stopped here and asked me to take their photo, which I did, and then they took this picture.
