The Laramie River Greenbelt is a six mile trail that follows the bends and curves of the lovely Laramie River, traveling the home of deer, beavers, herons, and hawks. It is located between Spruce and Garfield Streets and includes the bike path, a walking/jogging path, river fishing, a dog run area, and a playground among its many amenities.
The scenery is also spectacular!
The southern end of the trail culminates in a 1.5 mile loop south of
I-80 courtesy of the Union Pacific Railroad which constructed it and landscaped it with grasses, cottonwood, hackberry, evergreen, and willow trees. The land previously had been their Railroad Tie Plant and had been a former superfund site.
The loop is an unusual feature on a bike trail, but it is lovely and does add a bit to this otherwise short trail. Parking is available at Optimist Park (441-533 W Garfield St, Laramie, WY), the midpoint of the trail.
